Community Service

The American Sewing Guild encourages chapters to support and participate in community service efforts in their local communities and through nationally-sponsored ASG service projects.  The Roanoke Chapter selects projects that utilize sewing skills and that represent a broad range of needs in order to appeal to our members’ diverse interests.  Over the years on both the local and national level, many varied  projects have been implemented:

During 2012, we are continuing to make angel gowns; blankets of all sizes for all ages for hospitals and nursing homes, including the VA; and dresses for the Salvation Army dolls for their annual Christmas gifting to local children.  A variety of workshops and sew-ins are held throughout the year to produce many of our projects while some projects, such as the Salvation Army dolls, are more individual in nature.

We provide a community resource outlet for everyone.
