The Roanoke Chapter of ASG has been active for over 20 years! We are led by a dedicated group of volunteers who work hard to make our chapter a welcoming and vibrant place for all members.

Chapter President: Lois Atkins
Lois serves as the Chapter President of the American Sewing Guild’s Roanoke Chapter. A passionate advocate for sewing and creative expression, she is dedicated to building a welcoming community where sewists of all skill levels can learn, share ideas, and inspire one another. As Chapter President, Lois is committed to fostering an inclusive and encouraging environment where members can grow their confidence, exchange knowledge, and celebrate creativity. Through her leadership, the chapter continues to provide opportunities for education, collaboration, and friendship among sewing enthusiasts throughout the community.

Secretary: Karen Olichwier
The Chapter Secretary plays an important role in supporting the organization and communication of the chapter. Responsible for recording meeting minutes and maintaining important records, Karen helps ensure that information is clearly documented and shared with members. Through careful attention and dedication, she helps keep the chapter running smoothly and ensures that members stay informed about chapter decisions and activities.

Treasurer: Teresa Baxter
Teresa oversees the financial health of the chapter by managing funds, tracking income and expenses, and maintaining accurate financial records. Her role ensures that chapter resources are handled responsibly and transparently. Through careful financial stewardship, Teresa supports the chapter’s ability to host events, offer programs, and continue serving its members.

Membership Chair: Carol Webster
Carol focuses on welcoming new members and supporting the continued growth of the chapter. This involves assisting prospective members, maintaining membership records, and helping newcomers feel comfortable and connected within the group. By encouraging participation and fostering a friendly environment, Carol plays a key role in building a vibrant and inclusive sewing community.

Retail Liason: Karen Olichwier
Karen serves as the chapter’s Retail Liaison, building connections between the guild and local sewing-related businesses. In this role, she helps coordinate partnerships, share information about sewing resources in the community, and support collaboration between retailers and chapter members.

Newsletter Editor: Carol Webster
Carol keeps members connected and informed through the chapter’s regular newsletter. By gathering updates, highlighting upcoming events, sharing sewing tips, and featuring member accomplishments, she helps tell the story of the chapter’s activities. Her work helps ensure that members stay engaged, inspired, and aware of the many opportunities available within the chapter.

Hospitality Committee: Joann Lindholm
Joann helps create the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes our chapter gatherings so enjoyable. She oversees refreshments, coordinates volunteers, and ensures that meetings and special events provide a friendly space where members can connect, relax, and feel at home. Through Joann’s efforts, members and guests are greeted with kindness, good conversation, and a sense of belonging at every gathering.

Holiday Luncheon Committee: Mariah Edelin-Gough
The Holiday Luncheon Committee plans and coordinates one of the chapter’s most anticipated events of the year. From organizing the venue and decorations to arranging activities and special touches, the committee works together to create a festive celebration for members to enjoy. Through thoughtful planning and attention to detail, the Holiday Luncheon Committee helps bring members together to celebrate the season, reflect on the year’s accomplishments, and share the joy of creativity and community.

Sunshine News Committee: Gail Catron
Gail helps foster care and connection within the chapter by recognizing important moments in members’ lives. Whether celebrating milestones or offering support during difficult times, she reaches out with thoughtful messages and gestures that show members they are valued.

Website Manager: Mariah Edelin-Gough
Mariah maintains and updates the chapter’s website, ensuring members and visitors can easily find information about meetings, events, and chapter activities. By keeping content current and organized, the she helps the chapter maintain a clear and welcoming online presence.
